Meditation
This week, I was going to speak more about crystals, but I decided that can wait 'til next week. After injuring my ankle a few days ago, I've been doing a lot more meditation and it's helping me a great deal.
Meditation has always been a big part of my self care, as it helps me get through tough times and handle my various health conditions better. (I won't bore you with the details). Many people think it's difficult and complicated, but it doesn't have to be.
Meditation doesn't mean you have to take a lot of time out of your day and try to find a quiet space without distractions. I do it while I'm doing the dished and folding laundry. I know, crazy, right? Overcomplicating it will only stress you out and cause frustration.
Yes, you can make it a big thing, but it's not really necessary. Let's speak about laundry (such an exciting subject, lol). Think about it a moment. What does the task entail? Everyone has their own 'ritual' for folding laundry. We all do it differently, but we can turn it into something more. Right now you're thinking, "This woman has totally fallen off her rocker!" While this maybe true, just hear me out.
Think of nothing but the task at hand and don't rush it. Immerse yourself in the moment. I don't know about you, but I love the scent of freshly washed clothes! Take in the scent and breathe deeply. Take your time, as you sort and fold. maybe even hum a soft tune. I find that I get into a steady rhythm and things seem to flow with ease and I start to relax quickly.
Yes, meditation can be done anywhere. If you want to do the "classic" meditation of laying down or sitting cross legged for half an hour, that is also fine. Just don't overthink it. Be with yourself in the moment,
There are also guided meditations, you can do. This is more of a visualisation technique, where someone takes you through a step by step journey. This is not for everyone, but can be very rewarding. Guided meditations can be found all over the internet. This specific form of meditation would require some quiet time, or you could listen to one at bedtime.
Meditation can be used for a wide range of things. I use it to help handle pain and manage my mental health. I'm not telling anyone to disregard their doctors or prescribed meds, but if you think it could be something that might help alongside your current treatments, then give it a go. It can help calm both mind, body and soul, and has been practiced all over the world for many thousands of years.
If you're in pain, struggling with mental or physical health, stressed about a situation or anything else which may be making you feel a bit discombobulated or unsettled, give it a go. We all have times where we need to quieten our minds and clear our thoughts. However you decide to try meditation, always remember to take steady breaths and don't put pressure on yourself.
I believe that meditation is underrated and its benefits are many.
I think I'll stop my rambling there and let you all go try out some groovy laundry meditation. (Ooo look, what a coincidence! I have a fresh pile of laundry winking at me).
Have a blissful week, my darlings.
Love and light to you all xx
