Catie’s ramblings.
This week’s blog is very personal to me. It is me. Usually, I do a lot of research for my blog. This week, I haven’t. Why? Because I’m going to share my own thoughts with you all. It will also allow you to get to know the woman behind the keyboard a bit more. When I talk about magic, Spirit, mediumship and being a witch, these are some things others have said in response:
“You’re crazy!”
“Have you taken your meds today?”
“Ghosts aren’t real.”
“Oh, I love Sabrina!”
“It’s an evil practice.”
“Mediums are frauds.”
“Can you do me a love spell?”
Honestly, I’ve had it all! There are some things I’ve been asked that just aren’t appropriate to put in writing, but I’m sure some of you can imagine. I’ve even been told that my cackle is fake. I bloody wish it was! Alas, the cackle is (unfortunately) very real. Apologies to all who’ve heard it. Anyhoo…

Signs from Spirit?
There are many times in our lives when something happens that has no logical explanation. An item will fall off a shelf after being sat there for years. There are no fur-babies around who could have knocked it off. How did it fall? You’ve been searching for something for ages, then it turns up in plain view. But you’ve looked in that spot several times. Where did it come from? You’ll know who’s calling your cell before you even look at it or before it makes a sound. How did you know?
These types of things have happened to me more times than I can count. When they occur, I always send out my thanks. Why? Because I believe it’s Spirit giving us a helping hand or a heads-up. Our friends and loved ones who have passed are watching over us and continue to be there. It’s not always clear what they’re trying to tell us (they do love to be cryptic) but everything has meaning. So, sit back and think. What was it that fell? What was it you were looking for? Who called you and why?
I knew a certain person (let’s call them ‘J’) was going to contact me. I had the feeling all day. They’d not been in touch with me for well over a year and never expected to hear from them again. But a text message came through in the evening from an unknown number and it was J. For months prior, I’d been catching the scent of Refreshers (a tube of round British candies that are a tad fizzy.) which I always associated with J’s mother. That day, the scent was stronger than ever. Indirectly from that contact, I found out J’s mother had passed away several months earlier. (Not long before I began smelling the candies.)
Had I been given a sign that I didn’t understand or was it all just one huge coincidence? I believe it was the former.
Spirit can guide and help by giving us signs, but at the end of the day, it’s our life to live. We can choose or not to acknowledge these signs. Even when we do. We may not be able to work them out until something happens. But maybe that little helping hand was enough to help us handle the situation a bit better…
Mediumship, psychic ability, remote viewing and Aura reading.
Are mediums really contacting Spirit, or could they be psychic? I believe both could be true.
When I think of ‘mediumship’ I don’t just think of someone sitting there with their eyes closed and telling me random stuff. Giving messages to people can be done in all different ways. Tarot cards, crystal balls/crystals, pendulums, scrying bowls, and more. These tools are used as conduits. Some use them. Some don’t. Personally, I prefer tarot or nothing. I also don’t read cards like the majority of readers. I can read a deck of playing cards the same way I can tarot. (Did I mention I’m a medium?)
The first time I went to an open circle was quite an emotional ride. It’s just a group of gifted individuals who get together and deliver messages to one and other from Spirit. I knew I had the gift but had never taken it public in any way.
All throughout the evening, I had an image in my mind of a large collection of a specific brand of make-up. That’s it! Nothing else. I wanted more than that or for it to go away, but neither happened. I sat on it until the end of the night. I mentioned it, just in the hope that it made sense to anyone, but also because it was bugging me.
A lady raised her hand and said she understood the image I described. As soon as she accepted what I’d seen, a ton of information popped into my head! I gave her a detailed message and we were both emotional by the end. She took me to one side after the circle was closed down and told me she’d been going to many groups for a few years, hoping to receive the exact message I’d given her! To say that I was shocked is an understatement.
After that night, I decided to carry on attending open circles. I’d opened myself up to Spirit in a way I’d never done before and I’m glad I did. I’ve also been given many meaningful messages over the years and, as hard as it was to hear some of them, I’m thankful for them all.
Have you ever had similar experiences? Do you have the gift, maybe? Is it all just a load of twoddle? Does Catie need to go to the funny farm? Give it some thought.
Some mediums also read you. The energy we all give off is quite powerful. We all have our own unique Aura. If someone is able to read it, they can tell you a lot about your life and also use that energy as a way of connecting with Spirit. Aura reading isn’t easy and there are some who can’t see them. Those who can, may need to really concentrate or go into a deep meditative state to be able to see. Then there are individuals who see them surrounding people everywhere they go. I don’t see Auras all the time, but it happens randomly. I even see them on video calls and on the show!
DT has had some wonderful guests on the show over the past year, including a few spiritually developed individuals, including: Dr Kimberly McGeorge, David Oman, Rob Gutro. Michelle Freed and more. If you haven’t seen those episodes yet, hop over onto the YouTube channel and have a looksy. Maybe if you’re questioning some things, those episodes will help you.
Remote Viewing (RV) is a fascinating subject! It’s a form of Extra Sensory Perception (ESP). Basically, you have to open your mind and focus on a certain place, object or person. The goal is to start seeing images or get impressions of your target to get information. (Other people could explain it better.) The wonderful Michelle Freed led a RV exercise live on the show and it was amazing! Manu kinda had his mind blow just a snipsy bit.
I’ve done it in the past, as well a psychometry, but the experience on the show was just lovely! Psychometry is similar, but you hold an object to gain the information about where it’s from, who owned it and things like that. I was closed off for some time before the RV episode of DT, but I’ve been wide open since! It can be a bit strange sometimes, but it’s still nice to have a continual sense of Spirit and a deeper connection to the energies around me. I’m much better at psychometry, but RV is just an extra challenge. I wonder how many of you have tried this or inadvertently achieved it…
Going back to the ‘knowing a certain person is gonna call’ thing. Could this be a form of ESP? Could you be a tad psychic? Very possibly. Things like this are more likely to happen with someone you’re really close to. It could be a close friend, relative or partner. We develop unique connections with people and some are deeper than others. Sometimes, our energies with another can sync up to a point of an unconscious ‘psychic bond’ developing. It can be the tiniest and silliest of things that you’ll notice. The knowing that they’ll call, so you grab your phone and it immediately starts ringing. You’ll both get the urge to message the other at the exact same moment. You might even buy your friend a gift for Christmas and they end up getting you the same item. Is it just a coincidence? Or do you really share a psychic bond?
And what about the times you just know something? Everyone has their intuition, but this is stronger. It’s kind of like a premonition, but not quite. Or maybe it will be a full blown one. It could be a deep feeling that something will happen (good or not) or you may get random images in your mind (awake or asleep). For me, it could be help from Spirit or psychic ability. Unfortunately, my knowings aren’t usually the good kind. In a dream, I was given the exact date my mother would later be diagnosed with breast cancer. Not very nice. How about you? Have you had similar experiences?
Magic and energy.
What is it? it’s everything. Magic has existed since the dawn of time. It’s all around us and it will never die. It’s woven into the very fabric of life and the world around us. Magic is pure energy. We all have the ability to harness it. Humans are made up of universal energy, just like the world in which we live. Learning to work in harmony with these energies can be a wonderful experience and it can do so much good.
There are many who say that magic is evil. Well, it isn’t. Magic is pure and has no intention. Those who wield it are the ones with intent. If you use magic with good intensions, the results will reflect that. The same for if you have ill-intent. The practitioner is responsible for what magic creates, not the power itself.
I live by an eight word rule: An ye harm none. Do what ye will. These are words taken from the Wiccan Rede and the only part of it I really follow. It basically means that I do as I please but without causing harm. However, I’m not afraid to give karma a helping hand every once in a while. I won’t set out to harm another, but I will protect myself.
For example: several years ago, I came under psychic attack. It was bad and it made me ill. There’s something I learned many moons ago called ‘putting up mirrors’. This is when you meditate and envision a wall of mirrors around yourself but facing away from you. The intention of this is to deflect all negativity and direct it back to those who wish you harm. It’s quite a powerful form of protection that won’t attract bad karma your way. Is it a bad thing? I don’t think so, but I’ll allow you to decide.
Well, my sweets, this was very interesting to write. Again, I must stress, this is all my own personal views and experiences. You will all have your own and I love that!
Whether it’s magic, contacting Spirit, or psychicness, (not a word in the dictionary, but it’s a word here) I believe that we are all connected and everything is rooted in universal energies. It’s the true thing that makes the world go round. Although, I’ve still not found the right energy frequency to remember why I walked into the kitchen! Maybe one day, eh! (Keep your fingers crossed for me.)
